Kidnappers demand N50m for Agency GM’s release

SAPELE—The General Manager of Delta Development Property Authority, DDPA,  Asaba,  Chief Vincent Enegbede, has been kidnapped from his house in Enegbede Close, Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, weekend.

An eye-witness, who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said the heavily-armed  kidnappers, who were in military uniforms,  came in an unmarked Jetta car.

It was gathered that  immediately the six kidnappers stormed the premises of their victim, they hounded him into their car and zoomed off. They were said to have  shot sporadically to scare people away.

According to his wife, Mrs Avwerosuo Enegbede, her husband  was abducted while relaxing outside his compound,  Saturday evening,  after returning home on weekend break from his Asaba office.

Mrs Enegbede added that her husband’s kidnappers had  demanded  a ransom of N50 million, which had been negotiated down to N10m, adding that the kidnappers refused the N1.5m offered them,  yesterday.

The state police spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, could not be reached for comment, but a  senior police officer at the Sapele Police Station,  who preferred anonymity, confirmed the incident.
