Prominent royal fathers in Delta State, the Asagba of Asaba, the Olu of Warri and the Orodje of Okpe, have given their blessings and support to the recently inaugurated fifth Assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly.
This was made known, when the Speaker, Mr Victor Ochei led principal officers and members of the House on a courtesy visit to the monarchs.
At his Palace, the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Chike Edozien, assured the legislators of his continual prayer to enable them succeed in the tedious task of legislating for enhanced democracy dividends to Deltans.
He stressed that an Assembly which seeks the words of royal fathers was one that is on the right path to success.
At the Olu of Warri’s Palace, the monarch, Ogiame Atunwatse II, praised the legislators’ initiative in acknowledging the importance of traditional blessing for the successful accomplishment of such onerous tasks as legislation.
He urged the lawmakers to always seek counsel from the royal fathers.
While addressing the legislators at Ororekpe, His royal Majesty, Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, commended the Ochei-led team for recognising the traditional institution as veritable partners in the task of fostering unity as a cardinal tool for effective governance.
While advocating for the upward review of the five percent stipend to traditional rulers in the state, the royal father urged them to ensure strict adherence to their oversight functions.
