ENUGU – GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has described the recent appointment of Chief Anyim Pius Anyim to the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, as another demonstration of President Goodluck Jonathan’s resolve to restore the nation to the path of rapid and sustainable development.

Chime who stated this in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chukwudi Achife, said that the President exhibited a high level of sagacity in his choice of Chief Anyim adding that it showed his commitment to promoting merit and propriety over other considerations in making appointments at the highest levels of government.

Chime described Chief Anyim as “a most befitting head to wear the cap”, saying the former Senate President would bring his vast experience as a political administrator to bear on the discharge of his duties.

He said that the nation stood to gain a lot from his service.

The governor further noted that Chief Anyim enjoyed a lot of goodwill and friendship across the nation on account of his sterling performance during his days as Senate President stressing that the nation needed a man with such credentials to man the sensitive position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The governor thanked President Jonathan for considering the South East zone worthy of producing the occupant of the exalted office adding that this would further cement the overwhelming support and solidarity he has been enjoying from the people of the region since his ascension to the premier position in the country.

He urged the new SGF to go about his official duties with his usual candour, diligence and broad mindedness adding that he was confident that he (Anyim) would set new standards and carve a distinctive niche for himself in the records of occupants of his office.
