Suspected thugs armed with dangerous weapons, yesterday, invaded the Election Petitions Tribunal wing of the High Court in Yenagoa and carted away copies of documentary evidence before it.
From the creeks to the classroom in America
When Lucky Ambamowei (not real name) was called out of the Federal Government’s post-amnesty’s non-violence training at Obubra, Cross Rivers State, to be told in hushed tones that he had been picked for an undergraduate training in a Russian university, he didn’t quite believe the information he was being fed with.
Igbo seek common stand on new power sharing formula
Political leaders of the South-East are meeting within 14 days to hammer out a common position on what offices the zone should demand in the power sharing arrangement in the coming dispensation. There are diverse opinions in the area regarding the positions of Deputy Senate Senate President, House of Representatives Speaker and National Chairman of the PDP.
We may not forget, but can learn a little
Nigeria is like the elephant, she forgets nothing and learns nothing. At least that has been the lesson that the outgone elections show.
Another Master Stroke: Demas Nwoko at Grillo’s Pavillion
It was a day of another pass mark for the arts and the entire art community as art patrons, critics, diplomats, artists, scholars, students or what could be described as the creme la de creme of the art community gathered in the serene community of Ikorodu for the 3rd Yusuf Grillo Pavillion annual art fiesta organised by notable art patron and playwright, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi.
Are you still having sex with your spouse
Men and women don’’t know how to please each other very well at all. There simply has been too much focus on intercourse as a way of reaching mutual pleasure. It takes more than 20 minutes, on average, for a woman to become aroused to the point of orgasm. 75% of men don’’t take 2 minutes, and not enough men and women have worked at mastering The Art of a 25-Minute Arousal.
Art-iculating Yinka Shonibare’s hope in hopelessness
The popular saying that, where ever art goes people go was brought to the fore last week when the Lagos art community converged at the Lagos culture house TerraKulture, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island for the Art-iculate Lectures Series, Spring 2011 organised by Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos.
Generation X (4)
The earth will not be destroyed by us or even generations worse than we are. It’s an entity that will survive our greed and plunder. What we should learn from the ice age is that it will purge itself of polluting forces and renew itself with a new generation that will adapt and conquer the elements to survive! I pray that we are able to reduce the pollution and come together to develop a new consciousness that will take from the old and modify with the new. We could easily turn things around if profit was no longer our priority at the expense of our humanity.
All hail the ‘progressives’ (2)
Let’s face it: ACN’s claim that the South West voted Jonathan, not PDP, is not any less morally compunctious than say former British Naval Commander, Lord Mountbatten’s apology: “Actually I vote Labor, but my butler is Tory”.
And yet even the harangue of political conscience should be less prickly in a politician apologizing to Tory sentiments because he voted Labor than in a politician apologizing to a righteous public opinion for deliberately voting to support bad governance; and worse even, in repudiation of his hard-earned ‘progressive’ reputation.
Make or Break the Nation…
One of the greatest challenges facing Africa’s fledgling attempts at democratic governance is how to conduct free and fair elections. Attempts at doing so have resulted in serious problems that have even threatened the very existence of some of countries. The case of Nigeria which claims to be the giant of Africa is not an exception
