Kidnapped Catholic Reverend Father was , Tuesday, freed after over 100 Rev Fathers held mass at Ibusa giving the kidnappers an ultimatum.

THE kidnapped Reverend Father, Peter Chukwurah who was abducted on Sunday night at Ibusa has been released by his abductors without collecting a kobo from the N10 million earlier demanded as ransom.

Over 100 Reverend Fathers had, Monday evening gathered at Ibusa, where they held a mass and called on the abductors to release their colleague unharmed without further delay as they (Reverend Fathers) had prayed for their forgiveness.

But the clerics however warned if the abductors failed to embrace the clemency offered them and release their colleague immediately that they should be ready for the consequences of their nefarious act.

Reverend Father Chukwurah, the Parish Priest of Saint Monica’s Catholic Church Ibusa was waylaid and abducted at gun point while driving into his compound at about 9pm, Sunday.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the release when contacted, but he was of the view that the cleric was released due to the hot chase by security agents.

According to him, “they (kidnappers) realized that security operatives were closing up on them, they released him and no ransom was paid”, said Muka.

In a related development, a police man was also killed by suspected armed robbers in Ibusa on Sunday , same night the the Reverend Father was abducted.
