Community moves to end crisis

AWKA – FOLLOWING the crisis that engulfed Obosi community in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State, which led to the death of three persons, including an 83-year-old man, and destruction of property worth millions of Naira, the community’s leadership has begun moves to restore peace in the area.

Also, about 19 persons allegedly belonging to the outlawed Adike Peace Foundation, APF, in the town, who were arrested in connection with the crisis, have been arraigned in court.

Vanguard gathered that at a meeting held last week, it was decided that all suspects who were unjustly detained should be released, while two dead victims whose corpses had been in the mortuary since September 2006 should be buried without further delay.

Other decisions taken at the meeting were that cases of property destroyed during the crisis should be itemised and looked into, just as a skills acquisition centre to take care of unemployment  in the community, as well as a scholarship scheme to provide further education to the youths, were to be put in place.
