Recipe for graceful aging and to be on top of your health: clean eating, exercise, water, supplementing your diet.
Healthy food choices make you look and feel great.
Clean eating is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. The commitment to this way of eating is full time. It is not about denying yourself or going hungry, it’s about eating with thought and planning.
By adopting the clean eating lifestyle, your body will have a chance at looking it’s all time best.
Principles of clean eating.
1.Eat 5 or 6 small meals every day.
2.Eat every 2 to 3 hours
3.Combine lean protein and complex carbohydrate at every meal
4.Drink at least 2 litres or 8 cups of water each day.
5.Never miss a meal especially breakfast.
6.Avoid all over–processed, refined foods, especially white flour and sugar
7.Avoid saturated and trans fat
8.Avoid sugar loaded soft drinks and juices
9.Avoid alcohol – another form of sugar
10. Avoid all calorie – dense foods that contain little or no nutritional value
11.Eat fresh fruits and vegetables for fiber, vitamins and enzymes
12.Stick to proper portion–size. Give up the super–sizing. Make a commitment to measure foods until you get the hang of how much you should be eating.
13. Burn fat efficiently by adding essential fatty acids like flax seeds and unsaturated oils to your diet.
Ugly foods that should never make the clean eating list.
a.Doughnut, Puf Puf or Buns:- Even the humblest doughnut contain a whopping 490 calories and 30 grams of fat. Add a little sugar, jelly and cream and you’re working at 600 calories and 35 grams of fat. The recommended calorie intake for a woman per day is only about 1800 calories (if she is not on a weight loss programme) if several hundred of them are coming from doughnut, buns or puf puf, which hardly satisfies the appetite, what are you going to eat for the rest of the day?
b.Soft drinks, Carbonated Beverage: The average carbonated beverage contains approximately seven (7) to nine (9) teaspoons of refined sugar. That’s a load of sugar! Most of us don’t even realize we are taking in that much sugar while drinking a favorite soft drink. Even the diet options contain fake sweeteners like aspartame or splenda and may be detrimental to health. Soft drinks contain harmful chemicals and preservatives, none of which contribute to your health. Better to quench your thirst with fresh water.
c. Junk Food: Potato chips, fried plantain (dodo) with excess oil, deep fried snacks. These foods carry an overwhelming load of empty calories, Tran’s fat, saturated fats and sodium; you can hardly call such product food. Avoid all these at all cost. If you absolutely can’t resist especially fried plantain (DODO) grill it or use a zero (0) calorie oil spray.
