AS Christians gather with one another to celebrate the death and ressurrection of the progenitor of the Christian faith, El-Shaddai Covenant Church is using the period to gather Christ-ians and non-Christians for what it called an Easter Leadership Conference.
Addressing newsmen in his church office recently, the chief host and initiator of the empowerment prog-ramme, Dr. James Iruobe said the event which is billed to commence on Friday and end on Easter Sunday at the church premises in Abule Egba area of Lagos, has assum-ed an annual dimension.
Tagged “Accessing Hea-ven’s abundance,” the programme is designed to teach biblical principles of how to overcome economic meltdown. Said Iruobe: “We believe that despite the negative impact of the global economic meltdown all over the world, those who believe in God should not melt down with the meltdown but rather find pathways to attain great-ness.”
Quoting from the II Cori-nthians 9:8, the erstwhile quantity surveyor explain-ed that Heaven which the average Christian repre-sents, is not broke and cannot be broke, stressing that if every Nigerian can tap diligently into relevant bible principles he/she will realise that God is able to make all grace abound.
Iruobe maintained that the future of any nation or any race is often dependent on the type of seed the past generation had sown. According to him, “Niger-ia’s solution to the current economic down turn can be found in our lack of con-nectivity to Heaven thro-ugh sowing. Why should an individual Christian be more prosperous than the other? Why is it that some Christians pay tithes and yet they do not prosper?”
He maintained that there is a huge gap between what Christian leaders teach and what they practice, stating that the average Nigerian Christ-ian is selfish.
“He thinks first of himself. He practices the principles of this world and often expects the reward of Hea-ven. God does not work that way. What you sow is what you reap,” he said.
Asked why he had elected to host an economic summit for Easter period, he said there cannot be a better time than this, when the entire world is celebrat-ing the sacrifice of one Man for the rest of the world, to reach to the world with biblical principles to lift them from their econ-omic strangulation.
According to him, speak-ers are being sourced from different segments of the economy including Dr. Temitope Iruobe, Rev. Fidel Eneche, Rev. George Idagbe, Pastor Chuks Okani among others, to speak on topics such as: “How the kingdom works”, “Casting the vision”, Dynamics of Harvest”, “9 laws of acceptable mini-stry”, “The earth cursed system”, and “Accessing Heaven’s abundance.”
