Organisers of this year’s Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) have started calling for entries for the 2011 edition of the festival. The entry which opened March 3 0, will close on July 30.
AFRIFF is a celebration of filmmaking and a platform for the recognition of new and established talents from all over the world. It hosts local and international filmmakers, celebrities, actors, producers, distributors, visual artists, film students, amateurs and the press. The first edition held in Port Harcourt last December with Rivers state government as major sponsor.
Chief Executive Officer of AFRIFF, Mrs. Chioma Ude, in a statement noted that this year’s edition would be a masterpiece as serious efforts are being made to overhaul the total gamut of the processes that would lead to achieving a world class festival.
While reeling out submission guidelines for the festival which is the new annual appointment of the world film community celebrated on Africa’s soil, she said each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form and on DVD.
Foreignlanguage work must be dubbed or subtitled in English, including a concise synopsis of the film. Besides, all tapes/DVDs must be labelled with the title of the entry, running time, and the name of the director.
According to Creative Director, Ms. Peace Anyiam_Osigwe, ‘’all entries will be viewed by the selection committee as there will be no cuts or changes. Festival selections will be announced in September while all entrants will be notified by email. A festival jury is expected to present awards to films and videos selected as best in their category at the festival awards ceremony scheduled for December.”
