Imo Assembly suspends member

OWERRI-Imo State House of Assembly has suspended indefinitely its member, representing Ehime Mbano constituency, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, for his inability to substantiate the allegation that Governor Ikedi Ohakim made extra budgetary expenditure of about N30 billion.

The Speaker, Chief Goodluck Opiah, had demanded the report of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges on the allegation against the governor but the Committee Chairman, Dr. John Egbuchulam, complained to his colleagues that Agwu was yet to submit any document to prove his allegation but asked for more time to enable them prepare their report.

Irked by this development, a motion was raised by the member for Isu state constituency, Mr. Ikenna Eme, and supported by the member for Owerri Municipal, Mr. Clinton Amadi, for the suspension of Mr. Agwu.
