Fight those spots!

Yinka Fawenhinmi

I dare say our beautiful African skin is subjected to the worst treatment ever! Brown spots on the skin can be quite embarrassing and limit what you wear. Imported creams often contain hydroquinone, steroids mercury and other harsh bleaches and half the time, they do not get rid of brown spots gotten from insect bites which are quite common in the tropics. These tips will help improve your skin and make it clear and beautiful.

Bathe twice daily. You should always remember to wash off the day’s grime and leave your pores open and ready for your nightly skincare regimen.

Mix two parts of lemon juice with one part of glycerin and gently rub into your skin after your bath just before you sleep at night. The lemon is nature’s own skin bleach without the ugly side effects.

Always remember to exfoliate at least twice a month. Use this simple body scrub with a twist to slough off dead skin and reveal baby soft skin.

Fill a clean jar almost full with sea salt (you can get this at the supermarket)

Slowly add coconut oil till you get a thick consistency.

You can scoop this out and use at bath time

Drink a lot of water. Eight medium sized glasses of water a day will flush toxins out of your system and help your skin glow.

Never leave the house without your sunscreen on. You don’t trust commercial sunscreen? Make yours! You’ll need;

Zinc oxide powder (Ask your pharmacist to help you get this)

Extra virgin olive oil and Glycerin

Mix 1tbsp zinc oxide with 1 tbsp of olive oil.

Heat the mixture gently on very low heat.

Remove from the heat and slowly pour in rosewater.
