It has now been confirmed that Nigeria’s Under-20 team, the Flying Eagles, will take on their Saudi Arabia counterparts in Dubai on March 11.
After setting up a residential training camp in Turkey, this will be Nigeria’s final build-up game for the African Youth Championship in Libya, which begins March 18 in Tripoli.
“We will play against Saudi Arabia in Dubai on March 11 and from there move to Libya for the tournament,” Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh, said.
Saudi Arabia have qualified for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia after they finished fourth at the Asian Youth Championship in China last year.
Nigeria, on the other hand, kick off their African Youth Championship quest on March 19 against perennial rivals Ghana in Benghazi.
They will also battle Cameroon and The Gambia in the first round with the semi_finalists from this tournament making their way to the World Cup.
Nigeria have won the AYC a record five times with their last triumph being six years ago in Benin Republic.
