LAGOS—British Airways stated, Tuesday, that it delayed its London-bound flight 74 from Lagos last Saturday due to technical fault, which resulted from hydraulic leakage.
The flight scheduled to take off at midnight was not operated until about 4:00am due to the problem.
According to the airline, the about four hours delay was informed by the need to ensure the safety of lives of passengers on board the flight.
In a statement British Airways said it had to ensure safe flight by deploying its engineers to rectify the leakage before take-off 3:42am.
The airline explained that while the rectification of the fault was on, passengers were offered refreshments, while those with onward connections out of Heathrow Airport in London were rebooked.
BA said it had extremely strict passenger safety standards, insisting that it would not compromise its safety standards for punctuality.
“As one of the world’s largest commercial airlines, British Airways is an aviation-industry leader in flight safety and security, working diligently with airport and aviation regulatory bodies worldwide on safety policies, and processes.”
The airline again restated its commitment to the safety, security and comfort of passengers on all of its flights worldwide, including Nigeria.
British Airways said it would not only continue to do those things that would make passengers comfortable on board its flights, but also take seriously issues of safety and security in all its flight across the globe.
