PDP accused of destabilisation plot in Lagos

By Jimoh Babatunde, Daniel Eteghe
Over fifty youths under the banner of  Lagos Peoples Vanguard, a multi ethnic coalition group, led by  Comrade Sola Omoshola, yesterday, protested at the domestic terminal two of the Murtala Muhammed Airport , Ikeja, Lagos against alleged plans by President Goodluck Jonathan to incite some ethnic groups in the state  against the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Carrying placards which drew attentions of those around the airport,  the protesting youths   denounced what it called  the  desperation by the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to gain political foothold and mileage in the state.

According to the Lagos Peoples Vanguard chairman, Omoshola, Lagosians are already living in relative peace and will resist any attempt by politicians to incite people against the Action Congress of Nigeria-led administration, which he said has positively touched the lives of all ethnic groups in the state.

Part of the inscription in the placards reads: ‘’ Mr. President, please Lagosians are peace loving people,.
Mr President welcome to Lagos, Lagos is peaceful, do not incite Itsekiri, and Ijaw against other ethnic groups.

Let your votes count in the next general elections come April 2011.’’

He explained that the group staged the protest at the airport to attract the attention of  Jonathan, who was billed to arrive Lagos.
He urged the president not to allow himself to be used by desperate politicians who are seeking relevance having lost out in the power game to provide leadership in the state.
