PROMINENT leaders in Delta State, under the aegis of the Delta State Peoples Elders Council, DSPEC, led by the former Premier of the defunct Midwest region, Chief James Otobo, Monday, urged Deltans to give the former Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, an opportunity to complete his tenure by voting massively for him in Thursday’s gubernatorial re-run election.
The group at a meeting in Warri, hosted by the Iyatsere of Warri, Chief Gabriel Mabiaku, however, said that candidates, who were not in support of their vote of confidence in Uduaghan were free to exercise their rights, but PDP faithful and well-meaning Deltans should vote for Uduaghan.
Among those in attendance at the meeting were Chief Otobo, a top Delta North political leader, Senator Nosike Ikpo, Chief Mabiaku, governorship aspirant in the defunct Bendel State, Chief Godwin Iwegbeue and Ijaw leader, Chief Ebimami.
It was gathered that the elders deliberated on the security situation in the state ahead of the January 6, re-run and expressed reservation about the inability of the Chief Elue-led Delta State Constructive Engagement Committee, to prevail on the members of a faction of the party, supporting the gubernatorial candidate of another political party from retracing their step.
