Leader of Igbo Leadership Forum, ILF, Dr. Eustace Ejikeme, has said the Senator Joseph Waku Electoral Committee that conducted the recent National Assembly primaries of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State was illegal, as its authority was at variance with the constitution of the party concerning such compositions.

A five-member Electoral Committee, headed by Senator Joseph Waku, had conducted primaries for National Assembly aspirants in Anambra State on January 7 and 8, 2011, respectively, but Ejikeme said the exercise was a nullity and an aberration since Senator Waku had not been evidently reabsorbed by the party after he left it.

Referring to Senator Waku as one of the returnees to the party, the ILF leader said Waku had not been re-registered by his ward or given any waiver by the party to accord him such a sensitive assignment.

Ejikeme also blamed the suspended PDP National Chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, for such “embarrassing” lapses, saying with Nwodo being ridiculed over such illegality by an Enugu High Court,  the party should be wiser.

The ILF leader, however, warned that the PDP will be courting problems if it went ahead to adopt the recommendations of Waku’s committee, despite its recent postulations of championing rule of law.
