By Kolade Larewaju
SENATOR Ibikunle Amosun yesterday emerged the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ogun State.

Amosun emerged at an affirmation State Congress of the party in Abeokuta.

Speaking before he was presented, Chairman of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello said the congress was specifically called for the affirmation of the consensus candidate and thanked all the other 10 candidates for their support and cooperation during the process.

He said that all the aspirants went through ward and local government consensus arrangement before Senator Amosun emerged.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Amosun said that his nomination “comes with challenges” that he was aware of, adding that the challenges were “of rebuilding a state that has not only lost its past glory but has become the butt of uncomplimentary if not cruel jokes.

“The successful completion of the process leading to my nomination represents a major milestone in our quest and mission to provide purposeful leadership and a new lease of life to our people. No matter how long the darkness is, there will be a new dawn. A new dawn is at hand in Ogun State.

“We therefore serve notice to the incumbent administration of questionable mandate and the PDP that our party, ACN, is resolved to galvanize our people and stakeholders to rescue the same state from their predatory hold”
