Former Nigerian international Nicholas Ukadike has described Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia’s intended tour of selected European countries to see some Nigerian players in those lands as timely, bold and step in the right direction.

Ukadike who said there is no pretention to the fact that Eagles’ need urgent re-positioning said  in Lagos that the trip will afford the new helmsman a firsthand opportunity to see the boys as well obtain commitment from their respective clubs as regards to their release for national assignments.

“It is the right thing to do, he has to embark on the trip to interact with the players and club officials and discuss with the players on what he actually wants because truly he needs committed players.

“He cannot sit back here to monitor the players, he has to go and discuss with the boys, encourage them, promise the club of adequate cooperation, it is a good thing to do.”

However, ex-Spartans player has a word of advice for the former Under-20 coach and that is east or west home is the best, the home front should be the backbones of his new look Eagles.

“He should as well not lose focus, he should come back home and put in place standby home based team.
“Nigeria can afford it, we can assemble 30 good players, stop them from playing for their clubs, pay them well, give them incentives, give them supports and they will deliver, so that these professionals will no longer take us for a ride.”

Coach Ukadike who described the former Nantes of France hit man as the best man for the Eagles’ job assured him of his colleagues’ supports and equally asked him to checkmate the growth of special class of players.

“Siasia is the right man now, everybody in the street wants him, as an indigenous coach he should be able to inspire hope among his colleagues and equally tell the world that Nigerian coaches can deliver.

“People are watching how he will handle the mafia thing, but it is easy, let him make national team shirts competitive, ensure that players play by the rule, no special treatment for any player and no sentiment in the selection of players.

“I pray we give him our supports, give him time and not be too anxious for immediate result, we should allow him to build a formidable team, I am sure he will succeed,” he said.
