WARRI—HUNDREDS of residents have fled Mosogar community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, following resumption of  hostilities between two rival youth factions, which resulted in the maiming of several persons and arson.

Men of the Joint Task Force, JTF, on the Niger Delta and Nigeria Police Force, NPF, were, however, deployed to the community, yesterday, to prevent the incident from degenerating.

Meanwhile, the  wrangling between the JTF on the Niger  Delta and the Niger Delta Liberation Force, NDLF, over Monday’s decision of the leader of the militant group, “General” John Togo to surrender, took another twist, yesterday, with  the group  also declaring the JTF Commander, Major –General Charles Omoregie,  wanted.

NDLF in a statement by its spokesman, Mark Anthony, yesterday, said, “the  general public is hereby informed that the JTF leader,  General  Omoregie and his army of occupation in Niger Delta have been declared wanted by the army of NDLF over their brute force in Niger Delta by their indiscriminate air bombing of harmless communities, causing genocide, extra-judicial killings,  rape,  oil theft, intimidating the people with the barrel of the gun for generational continued  internal colonialism and slavery by forcefully hijacking the God given natural oil and gas blessings, belonging to the people of Niger Delta over 50 years.

“Therefore, the public is informed that the army of genocide under the leadership of General  Omoregie and his boys have been directed to report to the NDLF intelligent Unit for his arrest and subsequent speedy trial for violation of human rights in our court, oil theft, genocide in Niger Delta and other criminal charges against the good people of Niger Delta.

There shall be a handsome reward for any useful information giver, leading to the arrest of the JTF boss,” the group added.

But in Mosogar, which has been embroiled in  crisis for some time,  due to  difference  among its  leaders, which snowballed to the emergence of factional youth groups, reports say the fragile peace in the community after last month’s clash between the youth groups was shattered again on Sunday, with another offensive.

Residents fled to the neighbouring Jesse and Oghara communities for safety while the injured were taken to the Sapele Central Hospital.

Trouble allegedly erupted on Sunday afternoon, shortly after two rival youth factions were reported to have entered a peace accord, brokered by the chairman of the council, Dr Wilson Omene and president-general of the community, the Ejorhofo of Mosogar Kingdom, Chief Joe Omene, when one of the factions discovered a dead body of its member floating in the Mosogar River, hours after.

They repudiated the peace accord and allegedly burnt down the house of the chairman of the opposing group, making the other group to seek revenge. Many youths and innocent persons were wounded in the process.
