ABUJA—THE Senate, Wednesday, approved the report of its Conference Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution (Second Alteration) Bill 2010.
Chairman of the committee, Sen. Victor Ndoma_Egba, presented the report on the floor of the Senate.
The Senate thereafter approved its recommendation which granted INEC’s request for the National Assembly to shift the time line for the 2011 elections between March and April.
The report also approved the recommendation that petitions arising from governorship elections should go beyond the tribunal to the Supreme Court.
The Senate also confirmed the nomination of Mr. Farouk Sambo as a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission representing the North West.
His clearance for Senate’s confirmation was contained in a report presented by Sen. James Manager, Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta.
