BENIN—FOLLOWING his resolve to inject new blood into the Unified Local Government Service in the state, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, has approved the recruitment of 3,557 staff.
The recruitment, which would be carried out by the Local Government Service Commission, will see to the recruitment of 576 Senior Staff and 2,981 Junior Staff into the 18 local government areas in the state.
The Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission in the state, Chief Augustine Amune, who disclosed this, yesterday, in Benin City, during a seminar on Modern Security and Safety Measures, organised by the commission in conjunction with Riv Security and Safety System, said the action of the Governor was a testimony to the commitment of the state government to develop the local government system.
Stressing the need for people at the local government areas to be conscious of their security to check the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers, Chief Amune also commended Governor Oshiomhole for approving the recruitment of 50 security personnel for each of the 18 councils.
Chief Amune, disclosed that the state government was worried over the activities of kidnappers and those involved in bombing, explaining that the seminar was to sensitize the people at the grassroot on the need to be vigilant and security conscious.
“ And in a bid to boost security of lives and property in the local government areas in Edo State, the Commission as a matter of deliberate policy, has sought and received approval from the Governor to recruit 50 security personnel for each of the local government areas in the state,” he said.
On his part, a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mr Clement Ehebha, commended the Commission for seminar. He expressed optimism that it will help in fishing out the bad eggs in the communities.
