A-Ibom Speaker’s father kidnapped

Uyo—The 80- year-old father of Akwa Ibom State Speaker, Mr Anietie Etuk, has been kidnapped by some unknown gunmen in his village home.

Pa Sunday Etuk, Speaker’s father was abducted on October 18, 2010, after the gunmen sneaked into  his compound, killed one of the two policemen attached to him, badly injured the second, and abducted him after he was awoken from his sleep.

The kidnappers, who reportedly sent the entire community into pandemonium for the period they operated, fired  gunshots, sporadically, until they successfully took the aged man out of his bed to their unmarked vehicle.

A brand new Toyota Corolla,  given to the Speaker’s father was also stolen, while the kidnappers abandoned one of the motor cycles they came with.

The kidnappers, who took the man to an unknown destination, have already  contact the Speaker, demanding N50 million ransom, which a family source,  disclose that they do not know what to do.

The entire Ikot Idem village, Assang community in Afaha Offiong, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, where the Speaker if from,  has since been gripped with fear, as the hoodlums, Vanguard, learnt, shook the whole village and neighbouring communities.

When Vanguard, contacted the Speaker on phone, he told this report to call back.

The State Police Commissioner Walter Rugbere,  disclosed that  his men were already inside the bush, combing for the hoodlums and that in a matter of days, they would apprehend the criminals.
He said that some suspects are being wanted in the state and that he was sure they would be caught soon had been listed and that it was very certain that nemesis would spook on them as he vowed never to give them any chance to escape.

Walter noted that he has zero tolerance for ransom payment and that no matter the situation, the octogenarian father of the Speaker would be rescued alive.

The Headmistress of Mobil Staff School, Mrs. Lakmir Tombush was kidnapped last week in Eket, while her driver and Police orderly, alongside with another police man were killed.
