Presidency: Saraki declares today on television

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—CHAIRMAN, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki will today formally declare his interest to contest the 2011 Presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, using the television.

This according to him in a statement signed by his Special Assistant media, Billy Adedamola, will be a total departure from the usual gathering of people from all walks of life to witness the event.

“The much speculated declaration of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for next year’s Presidential elections becomes a reality as he officially declares his intention to contest the primaries of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, today.

“The declaration is also expected to be a clear departure from the traditional format for such event. Unlike other aspirants, Dr. Saraki’s declaration would only be broadcast and published on all major news channels across the country as well as different social media. His campaign office says there will be no formal gathering.

“Dr. Saraki is expected to make firm commitments on the economy, infrastructure, crime control, power supply, health and education among other things. He is also expected to present his achievements as Governor of Kwara State, his youth, energy and fresh ideas as his major credentials.”
