JOs — A secondary school student in Plateau State has been arrested by the police for alleged armed robbery. He was arrested when the police stormed his gang’s hide-out following a tip-off but his two accomplices allegedly escaped.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, disclosed this while parading suspects arrested for various alleged crimes in the state.
He said the youngster who is a student of Government Technical College, Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area was found with one locally made revolver pistol and six rounds of live ammunition and two telephone handsets.
He added that the suspect had confessed to having carried out several robbery operations with his gang. He said police have intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects with a view to bringing them to book.
The commissioner also paraded three suspects alleged to have been involved in burglary and receiving of stolen items. He said one of the suspects confessed to having burgled the apartments of two students of the University of Jos in Dogon Dutse area of Jos and sold the stolen items to the two other suspects.
Another suspect was paraded for being in possession of a locally made pistol and allegedly admitted that he was a member of a three-member gang.
He said the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigations and appealed to the public to continue to cooperate with the police in the effort to rid the state of criminal activities.
