Niger state government has said  the state had spent over N500 million to compensate those living around the popular Zuma rock in order to turn the place a tourist attraction.

The state government said they intend to build a cultural village around the Zuma rock for tourists who will be visiting the area and therefore urged the federal government to partner with the state in achieving that feat.

Commissioner for culture and tourism Niger state, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu stated  recently,  when he paid a visit to the minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar in his office where he added that Nigeria 50th independent anniversary celebration may be like FESTAC if the Federal Government partners  with the state governments and other relevant stakeholders.

The minister commended the effort of the state government for developing the Zuma rock and making it a tourist   attraction.

According to the minister, “the administration of chief servant has done Nigeria proud by making Zuma   a tourist destination “ adding that “Niger is one state that has shown keen and honest interest in developing culture and tourism sector of the country.”

The minister assured them that the ministry is very willing to partner with Niger state government in developing its tourism potentials.
