WARRI—WITH the dumping of the zoning system by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the country, the Delta Central Forum, DCF, has joined other groups in the state in calling on Chief Kenneth Gbagi to fully join the gubernatorial race to Government House, Asaba.

The group in a statement in Warri, Delta State, by Mr Emmanuel Oghenebruche, President and Mr Joseph Umukoro, Secretary, noted that the choice of Gbagi came after they had carefully assessed all the candidates  aspiring to the governorship seat in the state.

According to the group, the choice of Gbagi, a distinguished credible Deltan,  who has the ability and experience to govern Delta State, will salvage the state from its stagnant position as God has been leading him in the right direction.

The group pledged its support for his gubernatorial ambition.

Insisting that Chief Gbagi remains the answer to the problem of the state, the group said,  “we should not be rigid about zoning as the best candidate should lead the country and same should apply to Delta State. Deltans have confidence in the capacity and leadership qualities of Chief Gbagi  and we are advising him to go ahead and run for the 2011 governorship election.”

It  noted that Gbagi, one of the founding fathers of  PDP in the state,  has worked for the success of the party in the state. “We are calling on the good people of Delta State and lovers of democracy,  particularly members of the PDP where he belongs to massively support his political ambition to lead the state in 2011.”

The group said  their choice of Gbagi came after a careful inventory on the records of those vying for the office of the Governor of the state and Chief Gbagi’s past record proved him the only viable, resourceful, reliable, experienced, articulate and God fearing governorship aspirant,  who has genuine interest of the masses at heart, adding that Chief Gbagi has half of his companies and investments located in Delta State, while his companies both in Lagos and Delta have employed close to 5,000 workers,  majority of them, Deltans.

“We sincerely believe that if  elected, his government will guarantee equity, tolerance, avoid wasting the state resources, promote unity, effective governance and even distribution of the dividends of democracy across the state”.
