UMUAHIA —Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has refuted allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State that he was planning to kidnap his own counsel ahead of today’s hearing in a suit filed against the governor by the governorship candidate of PDP in Abia in 2007, which comes up in the Appeal Court Owerri.
Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, PDP Chairman, Ndidi Okereke, who made this allegation claimed that Governor Orji was planning to disrupt court session with thugs .However, Abia governor, who spoke through his Media Adviser, Ugochukwu Emezue, stated that the statement of PDP Chairman was pure blackmail.
According to him, there is nothing as that being planned by him or his aides. He maintained that the idea of using thugs to disrupt today’s sitting was the brainchild of PDP in Abia.
Governor Orji stated that he was a firm believer in the judiciary, having benefited from that arm of government in 2007 election legal tussle against PDP in Abia State.
Orji stated that the judiciary could not be intimidated by such comments in delivering judgment.
