WARRI—THE Urhobo Elites Group, a political pressure group in Delta State, yesterday asked Chief Kenneth Gbagi to run for the 2011 gubernatorial election, saying that the state needs a credible and competent person of his stature to put an end to the alleged financial waste currently being experienced in the state.
The group said that its choice of Chief Gbagi was informed by the fact that he is a major stakeholder in the socio-economic and political life of the state, having half of his business empire located in the state.
The group in a statement by Mr Ogheneovo Jarikre, and Mr Umukoro Okene, its President and Secretary, respectively, said they believe Gbagi’s government will guarantee equity, effective governance and even distribution of democracy dividends across the entire state.
According to the group, “with businesses in Warri and Lagos employing over 5,000 workers, Gbagi has been able to uplift the standards of living of Deltansâ€, urging him to take steps to realise their ambition for the state.
