ASABA—AHEAD of the threat by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to shake up his cabinet, members of the Delta State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, have began to lobby for the consideration of their members for appointment.
Uduaghan had recently threatened to sack some of his Commissioners and political aides found to be disloyal to his administration, having discovered that some of them were working to pull him down.
CAN led by its chairman, Archbishop God-do-Well Awomakpa, while on a courtesy visit to the Governor yesterday said “we are using this opportunity to remind you that no CAN member has been appointed into your cabinetâ€.
Responding, the Governor Uduaghan said the success recorded so far in the state was due to God’s intervention and promised to continue to carry out the functions of the state with the fear of God.
According to him, “nobody dares come to Government House to suggest things or give advice that is not godly. I can assure you that in the past 3 years, nobody has come to suggest or give any ungodly advice to me because they know our stand.
I appreciate Christian leaders in this state for being involved in the management of the state not only by praying and fasting but by intervening to ensure peace and security in the state.â€
He also announced an increase in the slot given to CAN members for pilgrimage to Jerusalem from 40 to 100.
