Arising from itsÂ 37th Annual General Meeting, the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has identified issues militating against the development and growth of the business relationship amongstÂ stakeholders in advertising industry.
The Association which suggested ways forward, stated that best business practices devoid of suspicion and unhealthy relationship should be entrenched in business relationships and remains the tonic required to move the advertising industry forward.
The AGM with the theme â€œCollaborating to Enhance Business Growth: Client, Agency and Mediaâ€ held Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The AGM provided a platform for a robust discourse on the need for the advertising tripod (client, agency and media) to understand the emerging business issues and its effect on business relationship as well as the urgent need to collaborate through mutual and professional respect, empathy and trust for each other.
The congress further noted the resuscitation of the Heads of Advertising Sectoral Groups (HASG) and the election of Mr. Id Enang (ADVAN President) as Chairman, Mr. Funmi Onabolu (AAAN President) as Vice Chairman and Mr. Kole Ademulegun (OAAN President) as Treasurer.
It was unanimously agreed that the HASG will provide the needed vehicle and mechanism for better collaboration and self regulation required in the advertising and marketing communications industry in line with global practices.
Highlights of the AGM followedÂ the election of new EXCO for year 2010/2011 as well as AAAN representatives on APCON Council.
Elected AAAN Executive Board members for year 2010 are:
(a) Mr. Funmi Onabolu, President, Mr. Longley Evru, Vice President, Mr. Sunkanmi Ajiboye, Honorary Treasurer,
Mr. Debo Adedeji, Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Bunmi Oke, Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr. Gabriel Abah,Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Ex-Officio,Â Mrs. Funke Nwankwo, Mr. Tunde Thani, Mr. Wale Adepitan, Mr. Shola Adegborioye and Mr. Rufai Ladipo.
Speakers at the event are Mr. Onyekachi Onubogu, General Manager, Marketing, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, representing Mr. Keith Richard, Mr. Udeme Ufot, GMD/CEO, SO & U Saatchi & Saatchi and Mr. Osa Sonny Adun, Executive Chairman, DBN Television.
The event had in attendance also Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Dr. Bukola Saraki represented by Chairman, House Committee on Strategy and Planning, Mr. Liasu Ibrahim, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and CommunicationsÂ Mr. Ben Dutoye and the Registrar/CEO of APCON, Alhaji Bello Kankarofi among others.
