There is tension in the Super Eagles camp ahead of today’s World Cup squad announcement.
Swede coach, Lars Lagerback, is expected to announce his final 23 list today before the players and officials jet out to South Africa for the final journey to the World Cup.
An official of the NFA said yesterday that there were palpable fear in the camp as to the players who would be asked to go home from the 30-man squad who went to train in London.
“Their suits are all here ready, but they are not being given out to the players yet because that would let the cat out of the bag,†the official said.
That has not stopped the players from speculating about who is in or out, although the bulk of the team is already set and only a few players are up for a final decision.
“There is a slight bit of tension among the players. And it’s easy to see it as they discuss it among themselves in small groups when they get together.â€
Super Eagles Media Officer Idah Peterside says there will be a surprise or two.
“There will definitely be a couple of surprises in this squad when it is announced,†he said.
