The Anglican Bishop of Oru Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Chukwunenye, has appealed to members of the National Assembly to incorporate the Justice Uwais Committee report into the  nation’s constitution.

Rev. Chukwunenye made the appeal in his presidential address to the second session of the first synod held at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Oru West local government area of Imo State.

“This government should do N igerians a lot of good if the electoral reforms as proposed by Justice Uwais Committee is fully carried out and enshrined in our constitution. The National Assembly must not fail Nigerians on this issue”, Chukwunenye pleaded.

On public power supply, the Bishop lamented that 50 years after independence, Nigeria does not have any credible plan for stable electricity supply, which is the fulcrum for national development.

“The country dreams to be one of the world’s first 20 developed economies by the year 2020. We appreciate the decision of President Goodluck Jonathan to retain the Ministry of Power and Energy in the Office of the President and I want to believe that the action will yield the desired result”, the Anglican cleric said.
