Anyim denies being wooed for PDP chairmanship

Anyim Pius Anyim

ABAKALIKI – FORMER Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has described as untrue, recent publications in the media insinuating that he is being wooed by some governors to step in and occupy the position of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, being vacated by Prince Vincent Ogbulafor.
Anyim in statement, today, stated that the publication is simply misleading and a calculated attempt to misinform the general public so as to create disaffection among his numerous supporters. He disclosed that ordinarily he would have felt highly elated by the publication because that would have meant a great deal of support for him if those mentioned on their own had offered to woo him but that the truth remains that no governor had approached him on the issue of the National Chairmanship of PDP.
He however noted that he does not need to be wooed by anybody for him to determine what he wants, stressing that his aspiration to occupy the exalted office of the National chairmanship of his party is simply borne out of his humble desire to once more contribute his little quota to the democratic process of the country.
It will be recalled that  one of the national dailies(not Vanguard) of May 15, 2010 had alleged that Governors Bukola Saraki, Isa Yuguda, Gabriel Susuan, Danjuma Goje and Timi Sylva are wooing Anyim to step forward and occupy the position of the chairman of PDP after the resignation of the former chairman Vincent Ogbulafor.
