ABAKALIKI — MEMBERS of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South East have been told that the party would no longer tolerate indiscipline or anti-party activities from them.
They were also cautioned that the party in the zone was against any act of insubordination against the party or its leadership.
The party warned that offenders would be decisively dealt with.
PDP’s South East zonal chairman gave the warning, yesterday, in Abakaliki during a courtesy call on the State Governor, Chief Martin Elechi.
According to Metu, “internal party wrangling was responsible for PDP’s loss of the governorship seat in Anambra State on February 6 , adding, however, that the party will not tolerate such development in subsequent elections.
Metuh commended the development initiatives of Governor Elechi, especially his rural development policies and programmes in the past three years, saying “I commend the Governor for blazing the trail in the effective utilization of internally generated revenue in the development of the state. The state is remarkable in rural development.â€
He, however, extolled the discipline among members of the party and its leadership. He also called for the application of dialogue in the resolution of friction between members.
“We are happy with the development in Ebonyi PDP in the past two years. The members are loyal and disciplined. The party in the South East had in the past played great role in bringing sanity to the nation’s polity ,†Metu stated.
Governor Elechi represented by his Deputy, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, said the state government had always applied the PDP manifesto in its programmes and policies, adding that PDP in Ebonyi was peaceful and without any opposition.
