A group, Ndokwa National Youths, has condemned lawmakers clamouring for third and fourth tenures in Delta State House of Assembly.
A statement by the President, Comrade Friday Ossai Osanebi, noted that some legislators and political office holders were warming up for third and fourth terms, with a view to imposing themselves on the people of the state. it said some of them were allegedly having face-off with the state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, who they have approached to help achieve their bid, adding that the governor, being a principled man, has not yielded.
According to the group, legislators should not seek protection from the provisions of the constitution that guarantees their permanent stay at both states and National Assembly.
The group noted that elected representatives in the state and National Assembly have made little or no impact on their constituencies, adding that “for that reason, we unanimously reject any attempt by any legislator to perpetuate himself in office.”
And called on Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to take a resolute stand on the issue for the benefit of Deltans.
