Assembly raises panel on Benue properties

By Peter Duru

MAKURDI — The Benue State House of Assembly has raised an alarm over large-scale fraud allegedly perpetrated against the government by managers of the government-owned proper-ties spread across the country.

Consequently, the House has set up a five-member ad-hoc committee to investigate what it described as a rape of the people by the said property managers.

This discovery has also forced the Assembly to reject the report of an earlier Committee on Verification of the state’s assets headed by the Majority Leader, Mr David Mwar, as lacking in merit.

The House had thrown away the Committee’s recommendations, Tuesday, stating that it did a shoddy job.
Chairman of the new five-man ad-hoc committee is former Majority Leader, Mr Hyacinth Nyakuma.
