THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),yesterday appointed seven institutions to act as financial advisers to the eight troubled banks. The apex bank in a release named the advisers as Deutsche Bank, Chapel Hill Denham, Stanbic IBTC, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, Kola Awodein & Co, KPMG Professional Services and Akintola Williams Deloitte.

Lagos- based member of the inner bar, Chief Emeka Ngige (SAN) yesterday applauded the verdict of the Court of Appeal which truncated the ambition of Dr Andy Uba to become governor of Anambra State from March 17, 2010.
According to him, the position of the court served the justice of the case.

THE Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu, Friday, has dismissed the application filed by the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the 2007 election in Anambra state, Dr Emmanuel Andy Uba seeking to be automatically sworn in upon the expiration of the tenure of Governor Peter Obi on March 17, 2010 without any election.

CNPP National Chairman, Maxi Okwu has commended yesterday’s dismissal of Chief Andy Uba’s case by the Court of Appeal, saying “it is in tune with the wishes of the people of Anambra.The judgment should be appreciated by all true democrats in Nigeria in the interest of politics and peace in Anambra,” Okwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
