UGHELLIâ€”CHAIRMAN, House of Representatives’ Committee on Niger Development Commission (NDDC), Nicholas Mutu, said yesterday that the commission has awarded a N20billion contract for the construction of Gbaregolor/Ezebiri road project to Setraco Nigeria Limited.
Mutu, who spoke during a 3-day interdenominational crusade he organized for his constituents at Akugbene, Bomadi local government area of Delta State, disclosed that payments had already been made up front to the construction company.
He assured that work would soon commence on the project andÂ urged youths in the Niger Delta to create the peaceful environment needed for the overall development of the region.
Mutu restated the determination of the Federal Government to deploy all necessary mechanism to ensure that the entire region was developed and assured that the NDDC was poised to complete all its ongoing projects in the region in no distant time.
Also speaking at the crusade, the Apostle Vicar of Bomadi Catholic Vicariate, Bishop Hyacinth Egbebo, noted that the crusade was aimed at bringing the constituents and leaders together as one body in Christ.
He urged political office holders to do all within their limit to liberate their people from the pangs of bondage and oppression.
He maintained that â€œno matter what one does, it is by their fruits that we know themâ€™â€™.
