Call Gbekebor to order, Obotebe urges Uduaghan

By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI — THE people of Obotebe Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have called on Governor Emmanuel Uduag-han to call their neighbours, Gbekebor community, to order to sustain the peace in the riverine area of the state.

The call was contained in a petition signed by the President-General of Obote-be Kingdom, Chief Julius Takeme, which was made available to newsmen, yesterday.

They stated in the petition that it was imperative for the governor to nip in the bud a seeming crisis that was brewing between the two communities.

The petition was in reaction to a warning handed down to the traditional ruler of Obotebe by Gbekebor people not to visit their area.

It read: “It should be noted that Gbekebor is not a kingdom as they want the public to believe. Rather, they are customary tenants settling in between Obotebe Kingdom and Ngbilebri Kingdom and a mere village in the Ogbolubri Kingdom.

“Our patience is over-stretched and tested by the audacious but ludicrous and ridiculous vibration of the media-friendly Gbekebor ingrates.

“We can no longer tolerate unguarded statement from Gbekebor people who are over-stepping their bounds.

“We are peace loving, but that peaceful disposition should not be regarded as mere cowardice, hence we are sincerely appealing to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to intervene.””
