Anambra NMA educates voters

By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA—The Nigerian Medical Association(NMA) has embarked on voter-education, aimed at preparing the Anambra electorate for the February 6, 2010 governorship election in the state.

Addressing reporters weekend in Nnewi, the state chairman of the association, Dr. Obi Nwosu, said the electoral summit and gubernatorial debate were aimed at making sure that whoever won in the election, did so for the people of Anambra State and not for any clique, cabal, godfather or external forces.

“ We are convinced that building the people’s capacity for change through proper awareness and enduring sense of value is an effective anti-rigging mechanism. This will no doubt lead to the government that emerged,  taking the path towards meeting the people’s aspiration,” he said.

According to him, the project will no doubt help to rebrand the state through awareness creation and erection of capacity building mechanism for change from within, adding that the NMA was poised to start telling the world that Anambra was not for the highest bidder.
