Provost tasks tertiary institutions on sporting activities

ENUGU – PROVOST of the College of Education (Technical) Enugu, Mazi Levi Okata, yesterday advised authorities of tertiary institutions in the country to explore the opportunities that abound in sporting activities to eliminate cultism and other vices among Nigerian students.

Okata stressed the need for constructive engagement of the students as a way of ensuring sanity in the system, noting that sports and other extra-curricular activities are good measures that could dissuade the students from engaging in unlawful activities.

Speaking during the final football event of 2009 Provost Super Cup competition organised for students of the institution at the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu at which the Technical Education Department of the College emerged the winner, the Provost urged the students to maintain ethical standard in the pursuance of academic excellence throughout the duration of their study.

He said authorities of the institution would not relent in producing complete individual that would be useful to themselves, their parents and the society at large.
