Police arrest driver for alleged murder

LAGOS -  DETECTIVES at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba are drilling a lorry driver, one Kola Rafiu, for unlawfully causing the death of Mr. Mojeed Busari.

The suspect, according to police source, had on September 4 at Ilasan, Yaba area of Lagos engaged the victim in a physical combat that resulted in his death.

It was gathered that the suspect, a driver of a Mack Lorry with  number plate No. XG 476 EPE was earlier involved in an accident with a taxi cab with number plate S J 860 MUS and driven by the victim.

An eye witness said following the accident, an argument ensued and in the process, Rafiu allegedly dealt the deceased blows during which he slumped.  He was reported to have been rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital where he was later  confirmed dead.

In an other development,  a team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Emesim of Dolphin Estate Division, Lagos has arrest a suspected gang leader, one Eric Emmanuel Okuku who has been terrorising some areas in Ikoyi.

The suspect, who reports said hails from Akwa Ibom State has in the early hours of the day robbed one Mrs Temitope Senjobi who resides in Ikoyi of her valuables before the police arrested him.
