BARELY four months to the end of the year, Nigeria which has witnessed highly epileptic power supply for more than four decades, is gradually catching up with her target of generating 6000 Megawatts of electricity by December 2009. Owing to the importance of electricity to socio-economic development of the people, successive administrations in the country have focused on improving the country’s power situation by putting epileptic power supply to a permanent halt.

As Nigeria joined the rest of the world to mark this year’s World Oral Day, observers have rated oral health in the country poorly. Lagos State House Committee Chairman on Health, Hon. Samuel Adejare who gave hard knocks to oral healthcare in Nigeria said the culture of dental care in Nigeria is appalling and chided Nigerians for not exhibiting good oral hygiene.

Participants at the just-concluded 15th Aviation and Allied Business Leadership Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, have canvassed full integration of air transport in Africa, if African carriers were to be able to compete favourably with their foreign counterparts. Rising from the parley, the participants unanimously agreed that if there was anytime African governments needed to implement the Yamoussoukro Decision, which was designed to integrate air transport on the continent, it was now, especially considering the current global economic meltdown which had taken its toll on airlines in Africa.
