Group, AC chieftain fault Akala on road construction

By Ola Ajayi

IBADAN – A group under the aegis of the Quintessential Professionals and a chieftain of the Action Congress (AC), Chief Femi Lanlehin have condemned the alleged shoddy road construction embarked upon by the Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala-led administration.

Based on alleged poor performance, the AC chieftain said his party would strive and send the incumbent governor packing from the Agodi Government House come 2011.

The group through its chairman, Mr. Kolapo Ojo and Secretary, Mrs. Bimpe Aransiola, in a statement alleged that all the roads being constructed by this administration could not last a year.

It said, “the report submitted by our team indicated that none of the roads either being rehabilitated or completed can last more than a year,”.

But, speaking for the governor, his Special Adviser on Public Communications, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said “The group got it all wrong because it lacks information on the issue it dabbled into.

The State Government has embarked on rehabilitation and reconstruction of over 500 kilometers of road in the past two years and the quality compares favourably with the best around.

He further faulted the allegation that the opponent failed to specify which of the roads was poorly constructed.

According to him, “The opposition did not cite specific examples of the so-called sub-standard roads because there are none and the hallmark of the Governor Alao-Akala administration is the even distribution of amenities, including roads, to nooks and crannies of the State because he believes that all men, no matter where they come from are equal before their creator”, he added.
