2010: PDP lawmakers want automatic ticket for Uba

By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA – A group of lawmakers from the Anambra State House of Assembly, under the aegis of  Igwebuike forum led by Chief Ebere Ezechukwu, yesterday called on the state and national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to give automatic ticket to former Governor of the state, Dr Andy Uba, if the party must win the state 2010 governorship election.

Ezechukwu, who addressed reporters on the chances of the PDP in the 2010 governorship poll, said given the stiff opposition facing the PDP, in addition to its internal crisis, the only option left to the party was to allow Uba to fly the party flag, having been tested and trusted.

He advised the PDP in Anambra under Chief Uchenna Emordi to insist on wining the 2010 election for the party by ensuring that only a credible, acceptable and suitable candidate like Uba was given the ticket to contest the plum position.

“We the members of this political movement called Igwebuike forum are appealing to the leadership of our party in the state and national levels to give Dr Andy Uba, the former Governor of this state an automatic ticket for the 2010 governorship election. And we make bold to tell you that he is the only man who can win that election for PDP given the present situation”, he said.

He advised some of the legislators, who are hobnobbing with Governor Peter Obi to realise that if not  for Uba, they would not have been in the state House of Assembly, moreso that it amounted to betrayal.
