The sustenance of squash in Nigeria got a remarkable boost when the Cargolux squash tournament was held at the Lagos Country Club which makes it the biggest squash tournament held in Nigeria this year.

The squash tournament is being sponsored by Cargolux Airlines International Capt. Shina Akinfenwa, the CEO of Cargolux, said that the drive that made him to sponsor the event was that he has been playing for 30yrs and he has learnt over the years that squash promotes health and fitness and it is very challenging.

“Squash brings people together, this has kept me healthy all over the years. This tournament gets people of like minds to come together once in a year and i am determined  to give back to the society what I have gained from them.”

“When it started twelve years ago, there were only twelve of us but now, this is the biggest squash tournament in this country. Immediately after this, we will start planning fro the next one,” he affirmed.

Apapa club, Ikoyi club, Eagle club Surulere and Island club’s squash teams were well represented at the tournament.
According to the Captain of the Squash section Mr. Udo-Akangha Udo-Akagha the tournament will continue to elevate squash and the game  standard in Nigeria.
