By Kenneth Ehigiator

LAGOS – Aviation Minister, Mr. Babatunde Omotoba, yesterday read the riot act to VIPs and military personnel who resist screening at airports across the country.

He spoke against the backdrop of recent beating of aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at Benin airport by aides of a local government chairman in Edo State who refused to be screen.

Omotoba, who spoke in an interview shortly after commissioning the new Oasis VIP lounge at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, said government would no longer tolerate attempt by anyone to undermine security at airports because of the threat it poses to national security.

According to him, efforts to make the nation’s airspace begins with security in the terminal buildings through screening of passengers before boarding of flight.

The minister warned that the government would deal with anyone who refused to be screened, irrespective of his position in the society.
