LG suspends immunisation officers

Kafur (Katsina)  -  The Kafur Local Council in Katsina State has suspended an immunisation officer and his subordinates for allegedly compiling false report on immunisation exercise in Masari village.

Director of Health in the council, Alhaji Shuaibu Garba, who disclosed this yesterday while supervising the on-going exercise in Masari village, said the doctored report was on the last exercise in the area.

He said the officers were caught filling the immunisation forms even when they had not conducted the exercise. The director said a new immunisation officer as well as other staff members had replaced the suspended officers.

He warned against any act of sabotage in the programme, asking officers to always ensure transparency and honesty.

Garba said enough vaccines had been made available for the current exercise, and appealed to parents to cooperate with immunisation officers.

Okauru said while it was remarkable that most governors were embarking on development projects, much still needed to be done in the areas of health, agriculture and youth empowerment.
