LCDA: PDP urges Lagos govt to follow constitution

By Demola Akinyemi
Ilorin -  The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  has  urged the ruling Action Congress (AC) party in Lagos State to obey the constitution and the supreme court judgment and  revert to the status quo ante just as the party accused the elites of inciting the state against the Federal Government.

The national secretary of PDP, who is also the  Chairman of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, in an interview with journalists, weekend, Ilorin in an event organised by his Alma Mata, Ilorin Teachers’ College, also  said that the Total Radar Coverage recently embarked upon by the government has reduced the importation of arms and ammunition into the country.

Baraje told journalists  that the recent discovery of a cache of arms in a plane that landed in Kano Airport was as a result of the first testing of the radar equipment which caught the plane landing without permission.

On the FG/Lagos State impasses, he reiterated that the only antidote for the resolution of the crisis between the Federal and the Lagos State governments is for the latter to obey the Supreme Court judgment on the 37 local community development areas (LCDAs).

Baraje, who accused the elite of being economical with the truth having been privy to all the facts behind the matter, said, “The matter can only be resolved if the Lagos State government obey the country’s constitution and the Rule of Law. The constitution is very clear. The court is also very clear on the issue. It is now left for the elite, who have the facts at their finger tips, but have decided to be very miserly about the facts to let the whole world know the truth.

“It is now my duty and your duty to appeal to them to come out with the facts. I appeal to the state government to obey the law of the land,” he added.
