Anambra LGs get 200 boreholes

Awka – The Anambra Government has provided more than 200 boreholes in the 21 local government areas of the state since 2006.

Mr Dubem Obaze, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, made this known at a media forum, yesterday in Awka.

He said that 95 per cent of the boreholes were still functional and expressed government’s desire to develop all communities in the state.

He said that government had in the past three years, rehabilitated and equipped 100 health centres located in various communities.

The commissioner who described Governor Peter Obi as “a man of impeccable character”, dispelled allegation that local government funds were being mismanaged by government.

“Some state Governors have had problems with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged misappropriation of local government funds, but that has not been the case in Anambra,” Obaze said.
